What is Henna or Mehendi?

Henna is a small shrub called Lawsonia Inermis. Henna grows in hot climates and is found in India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Persia, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan and other North African, Asian and Middle Eastern countries.

The leaves of the Henna plant are ground into a fine powder, and mixed with hot water. Tea, coffee, cloves, tamarind, lemon, sugar, and various oils are also used to enhance the color and longevity of design .This paste is applied in numerous ways to the skin, the art of applying Henna paste to the skin for purposes of staining is usually called Mehendi.

Will the stain be black?

NO! Black henna, or henna that claims to stain black contains PHENYLENEDIAMINE a chemical used to make KEVLAR®, epoxy coatings, including fungicides, corrosion inhibitors, urethane coatings, rubber chemicals, hair dyes and polyurethane It can cause serious burns and severe reactions.. IT SHOULD NOT BE USED AS HENNA ON ANYONE EVER.

How long will it last?

It depends on many factors including heat, humidity, the diet of the person it’s on, and how long it’s left on. Generally, Mehendi lasts 1-2 weeks.

What’s in the paste?

Our paste is very natural and consists of henna, lemon juice, sugar, red wine and pure essential oils.
